The Government has announced that its Electric Vehicle Charge Grant will rise to £500 in April, increasing from the current £350 rate.
Available until March 2027, the updated support extends to renters, landlords, flat owners, homeowners without a driveway and businesses.
The scheme, originally introduced in 2023, will encourage and support UK drivers looking to make the switch to electric cars by reducing the cost of installing home charging equipment, as well as helping more businesses prepare for further EV adoption.
The Department for Transport stated that the increase is intended to help more drivers access cheaper domestic electricity rates, as the latest figures revealed that motorists can save up to £1,400 in EV running costs when compared with a petrol car when charging at domestic rates.
Further encouragement such as the increased EV Charge Grant is vital when it comes to UK drivers making the transition to electric vehicles ahead of the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel cars.
Also helping the with transition to EVs, Motor Assist can provide services to both electric and ICE drivers involved in an accident. Motor Assist’s network of expert boydshops can cater to all powertrain types, and it can also provide like-for-like EV replacement vehicles when needed while managing the entire claims process.
For those unsure about making the switch to electric, EValuate, the latest initiative from Motor Assist, gives ICE drivers in need of a replacement vehicle to select an EV. This opportunity provides motorists with the opportunity to see if EV ownership would be viable for them, as they are given an extended real-world experience.
