Government Launches EV Charge Point Grant for People without Driveways

Written by Scott Hamilton-Cooper

In a bid to make electric vehicles more practical, the Government has granted a £350 grant for EV drivers without access to driveways.

Open until 31st March 2025, the funding will provide up to 75% of the cost of purchasing and installing a charge point, supporting EV drivers towards the costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points at residential properties when also installing a cross-pavement charging solution.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in helping drivers to transition to electric vehicles ahead of the 2035 ban of new petrol and diesel cars amid concerns over access to charging infrastructure.

The Government and charge point operators have now installed a total of 56,983 charge points across the UK, a 47% increase compared to this time last year.

With ever more electric vehicles hitting the roads and the continued improvements in EV infrastructure across the UK, incident support providers such as Motor Assist, that cater to the needs of electric vehicle owners by providing services including like-for-like EV replacement vehicles and access to an EV-ready repair network, are invaluable.
